ASI Best Sommelier of the World
ASI Contest Best Sommelier of the World, 11 – 17 October 2026. Lisbon, Portugal.
The date has been set for this great and unique international competition of the ASI – Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, which will take place in our country next year, 2026, with its epicenter in Lisbon and organized in collaboration with the Portuguese Sommelier Association.Between October 11th and 17th, sommeliers and associations from around the world will meet again, this time in Portugal, to compete but also for a great deal of sharing and learning.
From now until the big event, more information will be shared, including more details about the program, the candidates, the partners, and the sponsors.
It has been decided that the current Best Sommelier of Zimbabwe champion Takura Makadzange will represent Zimbabwe at the Best Sommelier of the World competition.

Ubuntu Trophy
In partnership with SASA, Sommeliers Academy and Stellenbosch Wine Routes. This annual event saw Team Zimbabwe compete with Team South Africa, Team Mauritius and for the first time Team Kenya as well for the trophy.
The 2026 Ubuntu Trophy will take place on Monday 7th December 2026. It is open to all our members. The Team Zimbabwe selection will take place during August 2026.

SAZ offers the internationally recognized ASI Prep. (entry level below ASI Certification 1) and ASI CERTIFICATION 1 and 2 and ASI DIPLOMA. For more details follow the link asi.info/exam

ASI Best Sommelier of Africa and the Middle East
Will take place in May of 2027, in Cape Town, South Africa.
Zimbabwe will be allowed to send 2 candidates to the inaugural international contest which will take place every 4 years.
